1. The question you asked after the presentation and how did you feel it was answered (3%).
Quality of the question (provoke critical thinking and generate productive discussion): 10 marks
Question: What safeguards are in place to protect patient confidentiality with NurseLens, and what might be the plans be for IT support when technical issues arise?
How did you feel it was answered: 10 marks
The question was answered thoroughly and appropriately. It is clear that the student has thoughtfully considered the need for a specialized IT team to provide immediate support, which is essential. I also appreciated the emphasis on implementing multi-factor security rather than relying on a generic cloud system for data storage. Given that NurseLens is still in the development phase, some uncertainty around specific implementation details is understandable, but it was reassuring to see that the student is already thinking about these aspects. Overall, I was very satisfied with how the student answered the question.

Successes: What went well? 10 marks
The presentation was highly tech-oriented and visually engaging; the graphics complemented the topic perfectly. The proposed solution struck me as both innovative and practical, with features that seem thoughtfully designed to enhance workflow. I especially appreciated the inclusion of mindfulness sessions-an incredibly valuable element to integrate into healthcare technology. The AI-generated images effectively illustrated the concept, and I particularly liked the example of administering blood. The idea of using interoperability to allow seamless access to consent forms and prompt the blood administration protocol as a refresher is a great demonstration of thoughtful, user-centered design. The shift in focus from nurses to the caregiver population was unexpected but very meaningful. It was clear the student put careful thought and effort into ensuring the transition was well-integrated and purposeful.
Challenges: What didn’t go so well? 10 marks
Potential challenges include ethical concerns from the patient’s perspective and a reduction in nurse-patient interaction. Patients, particularly those who are elderly or non-English speaking, might feel overlooked or experience a sense of disconnection. While physical discomfort for nurses was mentioned, the need for IT support and training has not yet been addressed. Additionally, considerations around cost, ongoing maintenance, and future upgrades were not discussed.
Opportunities for Growth: What can be done to improve? (provide clear and feasible suggestions for improvement) 30 marks
Opportunities for growth include expanding on how to maintain the nurse–patient relationship and broadening the application to support not only novice nurses but also float or travel nurses who may be unfamiliar with the unit. The tool could also be highly beneficial for charge nurses or patient care coordinators who need quick, comprehensive access to information on multiple patients. For the caregiver population, the key opportunity lies in demonstrating the tool’s usefulness, highlighting that it is more than just another tech device. Clear, thoughtful marketing will be essential to create buy-in and help caregivers understand its true value in managing their loved one’s care.
